- Hard Rock Cafe Bucharest – An iconic restaurant, located in Herăstrău, which combines the atmosphere of an American restaurant with frequent live concerts. With a capacity of 350 people indoors (plus terrace) and an area of over 1,500 m², Hard Rock mainly hosts rock and pop shows, from cover bands to well-known Romanian artists. It’s appreciated for its energetic atmosphere and diverse menu, although the prices are higher – the concert and dinner experience justifies them, according to reviews.
- Quantic Club – One of the most famous alternative clubs in Bucharest, located in the Grozăvești area. Quantic organizes live concerts from niche areas – rock, metal, indie – but also cultural events or underground festivals (such as SoundArt). The cultural club atmosphere and the audience’s passion for alternative music make Quantic a special destination, different from big breweries or mainstream clubs.
- Expired – Halele Carol – A club that has become emblematic of Bucharest’s alternative culture in the last 20 years. Originally started in Vama Veche (2002), Expirat expanded to Bucharest and became a “flagship” of the contemporary live and clubbing scene, synonymous with underground energy. In the industrial hall at Carol, Expirat hosts over 200 concerts and events a year, attracting ~100,000 participants, the space can accommodate 500 people per evening. From local bands and electronic DJ sets, to emerging international artists, the varied program keeps Expirat at the top of alternative live music venues.
- Green Hours 22 Jazz Cafe – Known as one of the oldest and most famous jazz clubs in Bucharest (founded in 1994). Centrally located (Calea Victoriei), Green Hours offers almost every night live jazz concerts, blues or artistic events (including underground theater) in a bohemian atmosphere with a much-loved intimate garden. It is appreciated as a space with tradition, where famous names of Romanian jazz have performed over the years (Harry Tavitian, Mircea Tiberian, etc.) and where the public enjoys selected rhythms, in a relaxed setting of an independent club.
- JazzBook – A cafe and jazz club located in Cotroceni, known for its intimate and bohemian atmosphere. Open since 2012, JazzBook has become a hub for jazz lovers in Bucharest, although the space is relatively small (with a seasonal terrace) – it makes up for it with “big soul” and memorable evenings of live music. It is often called by fans “the best jazz club in town, small but with a big soul”, featuring concerts with local musicians and special guests from abroad, in a friendly bistro setting where people socialize like friends. Live jazz in a bohemian atmosphere in the Cotroceni district – this is the motto of the place, which combines the passion for music with urban gastronomic joy.
